I can pinpoint with precision the first time I heard of Merrie Amsterburg: New Year's Day, 2001. For the occasion, CBC Radio played an hour-long song set based on space/science fiction themes. Her cover of "Walking On The Moon" came on and by the end, I was a committed fan.

Not only is Merrie amazing at interpreting trad, she's an outstanding songwriter. If you get the chance to see her go and prepare to be blown away.

Merrie Amsterburg is incredible. She takes traditional material and envelopes it with style and creativity until it emerges as a butterfly to amaze you with the beauty within. This is the best of the best; listen and enjoy!
