Nick's POV:
Later that evening, I thought back to the day before as I dressed for dinner. Skinny jeans, a grey dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up a bit, a gunmetal belt and a black belt were finished off by white tennis shoes and a watch. Yesterday, Em and I had talked about our families. I found that I could open up to her about anything in the world, and in return, she opened up to me as well. But I just couldnt seem to get over the fact that she had hardly seen her dad in the past few years, asince hed decided she was old enough to take care of herelf. The girl's 18th birthday was in late September, only a week or so after my own. But while I would hopefully still be performing after my birthday, she would be stuck here, alone, taking online courses so that she could be amother to Bella.
More than anything, I wanted to take a away the hurt in her eyes when she talked about her parents. I could tell she missed her dad and worried about him. I made a descision to try my hardest to just be regular teenagers tonight, though I knew both of us were anything but.
Glancing at my watch, I saw that I still had half an hour, so I sat down with my guitar and began working on the song I'd been working on for the past couple of weeks.
"You can save me from myself, you can. And its you and no one else. If I could wish upon tomorrow, tonight would never end. If you ask me, I would follow, but for now Ill just pretend. But if anyone could make me fall in love, you can."

Emily's POV:
"I can't believe you're about to go out on a date with him," Brooklyn gushed as she began doing my makeup.
"This wasn't supposed to happen," Taylor said from my laptop.
We had set up a video chat about half an hour ago when B had come home from next door. My other best friend was backstage at her latest concert venue, waiting to go on. When she had heard about dinner, Tay hadn't been happy.
"It's not a date, guys," I told them, rolling my eyes. "You guys are making a huge deal out of nothing."
"Have you seen what youre wearing?!" B exclaimed.
I glanced down at my strapless champagne-colored satin bubble dress, then back in the mirror. "He told me to dress nice. Besides, B, its just a dress."
My two best friends groaned.
"You're a complete idiot," Taylor muttered.
"Gee, thanks, Tay."
"You know I didn't mean it like that. But you're not supposed to fall in love with the boy!"
"I promise I'm not going to fall in love with Nick Jonas. We just want to have one night where we can be teenagers, not one third of the world's most popular boy band and a part-time mom. We want to be kids," I explained, wanting her to understand.
"It would be good for them. You know they are both workaholics," Broklyn piped up.
The older girl looked undecided, unsure. "How do you know thats all he wants, Em?"
"Because hes changed, Taylor. He's actually turned into someone I can be comfortable with, someone trustworthy. Wev'e still got some work, but hes getting there," I shrugged. "I can trust him."
With that, the doorbell rang. After a quick spritz of my favorite perfume, I slid my feet into my heels, grabbed my purse and said a quick goodbye to my best and oldest friends. I headed downstairs and towards the door. When I pulled it open, I felt my heart involuntarily speed up. He looked great.
"Hey, Nick," I breathed.
"Emily, you look-" he stuttered.
