2009 717R4 "Rain 4 Ever" we did IT 21 and loved it.

I've been to Philmont twice -- 2006 and 2008 -- and both times we had unbelievably good weather. The only rain we had on the trail was just light sprinkles while riding the horses at Beaubien.
But both times it rained like crazy when we got back to base camp and were doing laundry and stuff. I sometimes feel a little guilty about how lucky we were with the weather on our treks because I know not everyone is so fortunate... : )

We had conflicting info about which way was easier. We went from Ewell's park to Baldy Town and then up Baldy. Another crew on the same trek went the other way around (the same day), and said it was much easier the way they went.
And to make it worse we took a wrong trail from Ewell's Park (9400ft?) on the way to Baldy Town and ended up way down low on the road below Baldy Town. Probably had to do an *extra* 500 ft elev. climb just on our way to Baldy Town that morning (10,000ft)

Well, I'm actually 48, and I *struggled* to find enough oxygen while climbing Baldy. But most of the kids didn't seem have much trouble... Sutter (shown in the vid) still had plenty of energy at the top.
