Great camera. Extremely versatile (it has unlimited mounting capacities). Not only can it shoot HD video (both above and underwater) it can also shoot time lapse photography at 2/5/10/30 or 60 second intervals.

I bought the GoPro, so I'm glad to see it win. There are some aftermarket solutions to sharpen up the underwater images the camera shoots. The GoPro is designed and sold as a sports action camera, so I don't think the slight loss of sharpness is really an issue. Its not the camera I would want to take diving anyway.

For clear HD underwater videos, the GoPro HD does not support this. You will need to purchase a Vholdr Contour HD with the H20V underwater lens. This allows you clear and focused shots underwater. You can find the H20V underwater case at GMSconcepts "dot" com

Have you tried the custom settings on the Contour ? You can manually set parameters like sharpness, brightness etc. which will result on better pictures by post processing in the camera.
