  • It's almost impossible to cover a Smith's song. not just because of Marr's music, but more because Morrisey wrote so personally and idiosyncratically, and his voice is unique. But this version comes as close as you can get - the sincerity and raw emotion Buckley can convey it truely moving...

  • The Smiths did it better originally . It's Morrisey's through and through

Schmutastic , with views like that I can see the soil going over your head :-)

  • @stezothewhitenegro4y dude i love moz but to say buckley's voice does not have the passion and not in the same league, they are both in a league of their own, his voice is the definition of passion are we listening to the same thing, can't believe you can honestly say that, and i am one of the biggest moz fans there is

  • @Ringosfinger i know it's over was recorded in april 1995 for a radio program Hallelujah was recorded in 1994

  • @stezothewhitenegro4y

Jeff Buckley is considered in Morrisseys league at least, maybe higher. Unless your a Smiths diehard. You might be right with this particular song, but in general Buckley was the embodiment of passion and vocally I think he was more gifted than Morrisey. Especially in the range of the voice.

BTW whats going on with Morrisey? I saw a concert clip him bitching on Jamie Oliver being the bane of the world. Sounds like his perspective is now that of a wanky bitter old man.

  • did this come before or after the cover of Hallelujah?

  • @swine69 Look, it's alright to think this is better than the original, but Buckley has nowhere near the talent of Morrissey and Marr. Every song they ever released was brilliant. They never released anything below par.

P.S. I play guitar and piano.

  • @Schumitastic hmmm a musical genius. where can we hear your original songs ? you seem such an expert on music. what instrument do you play yourself?

  • oh mother

  • @Schumitastic

Lol ....heaven knows your ignorant now.........that was fookin funnny!

Dude sounds nice.........but his passion and voice ... not in the same league as Morrissey

  • That last the soil falling over my head might be the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard.
