I agree with you Surreal i'm not to big into abstract art, mainly because any talentless asshole can throw paint on a canvas, however abstract art focuses on evoking an emotion without the use of recognizable objects.
what makes an abstract piece of art special is it is basically the human attempt at raw creation.

i am an artist as well maybe a whole lot better than you and i just think that this is a kid being a kid on canvas, you give any other kid a bucket of paint and this is what you'll get. it's just a kid being a kid. any kid can do this.
but I will admit that she does have an eye for balance. the three works shown abide by the principles of design.
GNR2124 i'm surprised you didn't say anything about the principles of design since you are an artist and what not

It's sad as she was exploited. End of story. I saw the film, and there is a part when she is truly upset, but her father keeps prodding her to do more, and she is clearly distressed. In reference to those who think abstract art looks like it is done by children are in fact observant, as the basis of abstract art is meant to re-explore those first moments in explorative play with shape and colour.

There is group of nontalented people who need justification, from non talented people and call it art.PROJECT RUN WAY,NEXT TOP MODEL . NONTALENT HAS CORNER THE MARKET ON TALENT AND THE ARTS.Like Hip Hop

That's actually a myth. Humans use every part of their brain at any given point---and, if you think about it, it makes sense. You never hear of someone getting shot in the head but surviving because the part that was damaged was the 88% they don't use.

Dad looks so obviously like a shifty eyed liar. I don't think the mom realizes she married a loser though.

I so agree.
I hate when someone viewing abstract art says, "I could have done that."....maybe, but that's the point. You didn't.

what is remarkable? It's squiggles for pete's sake! I've had this debate over and over again. I've been to a few museums and have always had the same question...why is this so special? I love this movie. It rips the lid right off.
