A short review of the Minolta Maxxum 100mm f/2.8 for the Sony Alpha mount. Tests include a stop down and focus test. Extension tubes are also covered as well as a test shot.

  • @blackdindang Indeed, very similar.

  • @alphalens It's pretty sharp. However, the focus is the slower than any lens I have. Also, it's not in very good condition with lots of tiny scratches on front glass and some dust inside. Thus, I'm considering returning it and find another one :(

  • @hthang164 Yup. The macro design makes it slow, at least close to the 1:1 end. Being an old lens, it is important to find a copy in good condition to last you. Good luck.

    I intended to get a Tamron 90 SP Di f/2.8, but I changed my mind as I prefer Minolta. Hope I was right.

  • just got this lens last week and I must say, it's really sharp wide open and in macro magnifications..it can slice my subjects in half ;) lol
