Samsung BD-P1580 EDC spits out BluRays

Was quiet surprised to see the BluRay player, which was rarely used in the last 2 years, spits out ANY BluRay disk. This video was taken right after a firmware update from January, 6th 2012. Of course - warranty was just 24 months.

:-) lesson learnt only update Firmware if there is something terribly wrong...Otherwise leave it working.Minor updates are not worth flashing to new ROM.

NB: Did you switch off & unplug the unit off raw power & replugged the unit back to raw power. You should always cold boot after flashing firmware.

@shepherdbw Uhm - maybe it was not clear - but I just did the update BECAUSE ANY BluRay discs were NOT recognized ;) It was a tip from the german Samsung Hotline.

But does it eat DVD's or other disks? :)

@djterrabyte Yes! DVDs are fine, I guess CDs, too. Seems to be only the BluRay laser.

How about downgrading to old ROM? Maybe the new firmware is meant to stop piracy but wait that brd looks genuine to me unless it's a real knock off
