My previous record in Maple Treeway was with Daisy and the Mach Bike, and it was 2"31"099, so now I've went back to beat that old record. Here, I use Yoshi instead of Daisy, but keep the Mach Bike. Anyways, this expert staff ghost goes by Nin★MUGI★.
A few strategies that came in handy for me:
-Remember the patterns of the Wigglers, you wouldn't want to run into one and lose seconds.
-When drifting on the part that comes after the cannon, stay close to the INSIDE of the tunnels. Being closer to the inside helps more than driving on the outside because you have less ground to cover.
-NEVER take the boost pad that launches you up like Nin★MUGI★ does, simply drift around it. Trick boosts are the same as wheelie boosts, so don't bother launching into the air and wasting time.
-Wheelie whenever possible, but at the same time maintain control of direction.
-When approaching the boost pad just after the Wigglers, stay on the RIGHT side of the path, and wheelie. Doing a wheelie will ensure that you stay firmly on the ground, instead of constantly bouncing and potentially missing one of the two boost pads, or both.
-Take the shortcut towards the end of the lap. Tricking on the second root of the tree will bounce you up high, but you won't gain much distance.
Follow those tips and you should do fine.

@PokemonSoulGold13 Wheelie then tilt the Wii Remote (or the D-pad of the Gamecube Controller), opposite of the direction you want to turn in.
