  • The Andrea Doria was a Liner that only the Italians would make. Christ, she's beautiful. You know, these Italian Liners could compete for speed, so they built these floating art palaces instead.

  • @airplaneman345

Yes I absolutely agree. The ships of that time were truly beautiful. To be able to sail like that again would be my dream too.

  • What is the name of the song?

  • the beautiful ships of that time if only they were still here to even be able to sail like that again would be my dream

  • The Andrea Doria and her twin sister Cristoforo Colombo were in the top 10 best looking ocean liners ever built. These two ships had perfect proportions and elegant lines that will never be seen again at sea. Today in this era of floating box cruise ships these ships look all the more sleek and beautiful. Only the Disney ships come close in style.

  • Andrea Doria has Graceful lines & elegant beauty. Andrea Doria was truly a floating art palace. the 1st Class Grand Lounge. Gorgeous suites & staterooms. A pool for all 3 Classes & outdoors. A dazzeling Mermaid Bar. OHHH! Andrea Doria!

  • An excellent tribute! As others noted, this was Italy's last great pride of the seas and something Italy and all Italians (and us of Italian extraction around the globe) should, indeed, be proud of.

The Rex before the war, the Andrea Doria after, were both symbols of the Italian nation, and both were taken long BEFORE their time.

  • My father was there as a third cook,he survived...thanks for this video.

  • This is a wonderful video! Thank you for this! My grandfather was in charge of the first class dinning room on the Andrea Doria but thank God was transfered to another ship a few weeks before this tradgedy. Also my mother was payroll accountant in the yard where she was built and told me that even though the captain was found out later not to be at fault that he never got over this horrible accident. I also have a picture of grandpa in his white dinner jacket, taken on deck of the Andrea Doria
