@Itsdeb25 the guy wasn't really max. the journalist just thought he was. penelope said she'd kill herself if she didn't become normal and because he wasn't rich he couldn't make her normal. he broke contact, and after she became normal she found out who he really was.

@Itsdeb25 im guessing that he wasnt max her is really johnny martin. so basically the max guy WAS a guy who they thought could break the curse cuz the max guy was rich but he was johnny martin, who isnt rich.

I think they were extremely narrow with their interpretation of the curse - haven't they read all the stories that have the curses and prophecies always meaning something different from what you think? Besides 'one of her own kind' might mean anything. Maybe it meant a fellow pianist; if so, Johnny can't know that he couldn't actually break it.
I do like the self-acceptance though. Kind of sad that the moment she accepts herself, she changes and has to accept something else.

i love how the power to break the curse comes from self acceptance..and not that cheesy and overplayed true loves kiss crap that pops up in every story. this movie is very original =]
