Three Pompey fans make a pilgrimage to the Mestalla, Valencia
At the end of 2008/09 football season the historic Mestalla Stadium, home of Valencia CF, is to be demolished and be replaced by a state-of-the-art stadium. I wish they could have put a roof to the 3 uncovered sides in order to protect this unique stadium. Oh well I guess this is progress, another success for modern football, another faceless corporate arena.....forcing the true football fan further away from the action.

Me gusta mucho el viejo mestalla, y no por su estetica sino por que es un estadio que esta hecho como a retales. No os lo tomeis a mal por favor. Quiero decir que se fué construyendo poco a poco conforme el club podia, de una forma noble y humilde y eso es digno de orgullo.

slightl edit to your advice on pronunciation on mestalla, its 'mestaya' not 'mestayer' :D and yes we will all miss the mestalla, every one of us. but we will not be changed by progress, amunt valencia

I suspect that Valencia fans will be moved back 5 metres from the field......this is the tragedy of modern football.........the stadium is built for TV companies. Intimacy between fan and player is more remote. Regards Pete....hater of modern football
