Ana is right -- It doesn't matter what the politicians are saying now. They have come through with almost NOTHING in the last two years, WHEN THEY HAD THE MAJORITY. They are useless. If they destroy Social Security, it won't matter whether we vote them out or not. A lot more of us will be living in the street.

Obama is all for these cuts to SS, Medicare & Medicaid......so when they are destroyed he can say "have no fear old folks, I've got it all set up, now you can buy your healthcare under my healthcare bill and you can buy the healthcare for all my "bro's" who can't afford it".....that's always been his plan....!!!

How about this: vote for expenditures with income tax forms? For the first $30,000 of income tax, you fill in discrete percentages devoted to all major gov't expenditures on your own tax form; if you want 5% to go to defense, and 30% to go to a SS, Medicare or education etc., then the CBO allots expenditures to follow with public disclosures for transparency for all citizens. The $30G limit would prevent superrich beneficiaries of high profit industries from exercising undue influence.

It's not either "eliminate social security and watch old people die in the streets" or "live with the system until it becomes an impossibly large problem". What needs to be done is to pay every dime that was stolen back. Everyone will get everything that was stolen back at once, then they can decide what to do with it.
