In 2000, I happened across someone who had a huge amount of Jerry Clower's material to share on a filesharing site. I didn't kknow this man's work. I downloaded and entire album, and found a man whose values I appreciate and whose humor was without doubt the funniest I've ever heard. Subsequently I found as much material of Jerry Clower as I could and love it to this day. Glad folks who never had the pleasure of hearing his wonderful humor & his love of life and country can hear it here.

I was born in Mccomb, MS and it was my pleasure to talk to Jerry on a few occasions in my life. Each time, he was as nice as the day is long. I also went to school with some Ledbetters.

my grandfather is the same age as Jerry and grew up in Liberty on the farm and never remembered any Ledbetters.

This makes me think of Lewis Grizzard's story of a kid he went to school with who thought he was a pickup truck. He wouldn't drink milk unless it was in a Quaker State can. *grin*

I listened to Jerry when I drove from Community College in Rangely back to Denver in '80-1. He still makes me smile, nearly thirty years later.

this is the story, I say, newer fans of Jerry have to hear in order to fully understand Clovis Ledbetter even though Jerry always reminded people that Clovis is the one who wanted to be a log-truck.
R.I.P. Mr. Clower, we still love you and your stories. I hope that I can just be a tenth of what you were as a friend, a comedian, and a a Christian. We will not see the likes of you again. Love you, brother!!!!
