Windows 7 booting over the network from a SAN device using iSCSI and gPXE.

The server (on the right side of the screen) is an Intel Atom D410 MiniITX board with 512 MB RAM and 2 TB disk (on the top of it). All data is encrypted using LUKS, so there is a considerable throughput penalty - the disk can be read at about 22 MB/s, instead of the ~120 MB/s raw disk access (yes, the Atom CPU is not the best choice for this :) ).

On the left you can see an SSH connection to the server, running an nload.

  • I have a desktop in which sata controller went bad so cant use it at all Done all the testing and troubleshooting and were sure its the case ..Perhaps the caps looked bad So is network booting the best option? is it reliable and still pretty responsive? ....Noob questions im sure Thanks for any advice that any one can help with prefer win 7
