these games are rigged. at the last block even if you stop the block in the middle, the machine has settings to actually cheat you and skip over to the next space. in other words you can only win (the big prize) on every 5th play, or whatever the owner set it to. also crane games have settings to only give the claw full power grabbing every so many turns.

I walked into a mall with a baseball bat and played stacker. I won everything

@RateMaster22 i don't live in vegas. and he wasn't manager in the casino (where people gamble), just the manager of the arcade that's in the same building as the casino. but not including her, this is the first time i've ever seen someone actually win a big prize. i've seen others that have little rubber figurines that you can win easily, but not something like a gaming console

@idxrider Wow. Thats pretty crazy actually. Explains a lot.
Theres much about "Luck" you can learn from a casino manager in Vegas. Not the streets.

@RateMaster22 it's because they're rigged. machines that have big expensive prizes like these are programmed to make people fail until a certain amount of money has been inserted. and if you mess up and lose, then it resets itself. i used to work at an arcade at a casino and the manager told me this (and proved it). the stacker machine at that arcade would allow someone to win after $250 was inserted. they just happened to be the right people to play at the right time.
