CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- If you have been getting your Starbucks to-go at the Horseshoe Casino make sure you are not paying sales tax. Local 12 noticed the practice of charging tax on takeout since the casino opened in March. Well, under Ohio law takeout food is not taxed. Casino management told Local 12 News they will be speaking with operators of the store to make sure employees understand that if customers ask for takeout they will not be taxed. Local 12 spoke with employees Tuesday who say they were under the assumption they were supposed to be charging tax, because they are a casino operated store, and not a Starbucks-owned store. However, the law is the same for all carry-out in Ohio.
