I'd much rather have oil drilled in and around USA and used instead of nuclear. People keep mentioning oil in USA because we do have public data that there are huge deposits of oil in our land. Building oil extracting and processing on itself creates more jobs here. I think opposition is here not only from environmentalists but from those who want to figure out how to make sure they and not another company make profit from that land.

You come here insulting everyone with your posts but you yourself do not understand or know how economics work. You ask why do oil companies lobby for lower taxes if it will only go to lowering costs to consumer. Very simple, because if the price of gas is lower the demand for it will be maximized, more companies or individuals will be able to buy exactly as much gas as they want, as opposed to limiting selves by high costs. Oil company sells more gas!

@Epicspermdoner Never loose your values though! please

@Epicspermdoner So, if you are able, Run for something like state legislator or something, mayor I don't know just do something.

@wrjamescom just because they could sell it for more doesn't necessarily mean export sales would offset internal sales creating scarcity for the us. we are, as i stated, not even in the top 20 of exporting nations. i should also state that i don't agree with 'the rights of people to do business' while workers have no rights, and natural resources are exploited to our detriment. this is all irrelevant anyway. peak oil is right around the corner and we're not going to have any water in 5 years.

@Littlelemon31 He's reading from a heat sheet on the podium dumb ass. He looks at it in the first 10 seconds after the phrase "win the event." Who cares if he is consistent when he is claiming inflation is 10% while lecturing on gas prices? He's an idiot. Also, if gas prices are merely passed onto consumers, why do oil companies lobby for lower taxes when they can merely pass those onto consumers? Are they trying to help out the customer? The whole speech was hogwash.

@ 1:50 he says if you included food and fuel in the CPI, it would be over 10%. Food and fuel are included in the CPI. Also, since nominal GDP increased 3.83% in 2010, real GDP must have shrank 6.17% in 2010. How could unemployment fall from 10% to 9% in 2010 if the economy is contracting so rapidly? 10% inflation makes no economic sense.

once driven to their knees...the middle east producers will learn fast that oil is only useful for a fuel. they will be hungry and thirsty and we are the best farmers in the world. maybe we should have our own equivalent of OPEC. OFEC the Organization of Food Exporting Countries.
maybe a little wheat embargo would be a nice way to thank them for their support of terrorists. when we restored the monarchy to Kuwait in the early 90's they said thanks by cutting production. assholes.

although i'm from california, i'm proud i supported this guy with cash donations. i am proud to see someone stand up and say out loud that taxes are unnatural and counterproductive.
want to save oil? drive a diesel...if we embraced diesels we could put the middle east oil producers on their knees in six months...some of the VW diesels get 50 to the gallon. that's about 3x the nat'l average for the common driver. next time you fill up think how nice it would be if you got 50 MPG

Who owns the oil companies? Oh right I do. Damn I forgot...Rand you're a f'ing Einstein. Then, he proposed lowering their taxes and to pay for it, we are going to take away the foreign aid to all the oil countries that keep the oil flowing militarily. Oh right, and we can increase supply by drilling here in the US. Yes that would increase supply by what? .5%? What a boom that will be in between the spills.
Imagine how great this country could be if all politicians were like Rand Paul.

He's using logic. The vast majority of senators don't understand that language.
