Keep trying and make sure there's no flare nearby and you don't trigger the skeleton. It's not as easy as it looks.

also i always have trouble jumping forward from a standing positon, wats the technique???(PS1 version)

I'm not sure what you mean. I suppose it's a basic Standing Jump, so just press Jump and Forward after that, not otherwise.
