This is a health news segment from the CB11 morning news (Dr. Steve) on a study finding that children with an IQ that is an average of 5 points higher are more likely to be vegetarians before the age of 30. The study may explain why children with a high IQ have a lower risk of heart disease later in life.

  • What a dumb IQ correlation. You'll also find that affluent children are more likely to become vegeterians. Gee, I wonder why. Might it have something to do with the fact that vegetarianism is more expensive and time-consuming? Nah, it's because money makes people smart.

  • @stinky472 Actually, Vegetarianism is in fact a less expensive diet and it is no more time consuming than a meat based diet. I guess it takes a high IQ to do that math though.

  • Vegetarianism:

    It fights cancer

    Raises IQ

    Helps the heart

    And allows people to fly

Fact 1. These kids were smart before becoming vegetarian

Fact 2. They were better educated through life, a poor person does not have the luxury to pick and choose food

Fact 3. No comparative studies have been done

Fact 4. Who the hell is Dr. Steve?

  • I feel smart :3

  • @AppleSouffle you are quite dumb. Do you realise that Butch1026 is Brazilian and therefore English is not his first language, hence his spelling is not perfect.

Maybe you can start judging yourself - how many languages do you speak? Butch 1026, is Brazilian but also speaks English. I bet you can only speak English.

The study is right, we vegetarians (as well as vegans) were definitely smarter as children, therefore we decided to do the right thing when we grew up.

  • An excellent point, Stinky. And the study must compare this select group of vegetarians to the general population, which is a fairly poor group as far as intelligence goes.

  • Butch1026, you disprove the study that vegetarians are smarter than meat eaters.

You're a vegan and your spelling is atrocious. You didn't use your shift key, you don't understand verb tenses and your paragraph is vague and wandering.

This study is meaningless, just like veganism.

  • @chartchecker I'm responding to people like adrastea99 who misunderstood the study. He said vegetarianism raises IQ. I have no problem with vegetarianism leading to reduced heart disease. I'm not arguing about health, I'm talking about the conclusions people, like on youtube, make based on these correlational studies. They're silly. If we want to talk about health, best place to look is where I'm working now, Japan, and the diet that these people eat since they have the longest life expectancy.

  • @chartchecker And where do you live? In Tokyo you'll surely reconsider that statement. I'm a loose vegetarian (originally a vegan) but it was too expensive and time-consuming to have a strict vegan diet. I had to include fish. I've known other vegans and vegetarians who started including meat in their diet like chicken or fish even in the U.S. either because they lacked the time or the money for such a strict diet.

  • @stinky472 Ah, so what you are basically saying is only rich kids can have a high IQ. LOL. Consider genetics and the typical families with a child that has a higher IQ than their other children...same parents, same upbringing, same money. I know one family with 3 kids. 2 with a high IQ and 1 with a lower IQ....the 2 with a high IQ actually did become vegetarian later in life, but the other...still a meat eater. Also, they all make about the same salary now. Interesting, that's all.

  • @stinky472 Sounds like you completely misunderstood the results of this study which is kids with a high IQ are more likely to become vegetarians later in life - not the other way around.
