This film follows the extraordinary story of stuttering children struggling to break out of their isolation and learn to speak. Stuttering, also known as stammering in the United Kingdom, is a speech disorder in which the flow of speech is disrupted by involuntary repetitions and prolongations of sounds, syllables, words or phrases; and involuntary silent pauses or blocks in which the stutterer is unable to produce sounds. The term stuttering is most commonly associated with involuntary sound repetition, but it also encompasses the abnormal hesitation or pausing before speech, referred to by stutterers as blocks, and the prolongation of certain sounds, usually vowels. Much of what constitutes "stuttering" cannot be observed by the listener; this includes such things as sound and word fears, situational fears, anxiety, tension, self-pity, stress, shame, and a feeling of "loss of control" during speech. The emotional state of the individual who stutters in response to the stuttering often constitutes the most difficult aspect of the disorder. No single, exclusive cause of stuttering is known.

  • I also have a slight stutter.. And i noticed that when i just speak randomly to people and i'm improvising the words, it almost doesn't show at all. But when i have to repeat something or read something loud, i stutter. And i wanna be an actress. That means i have to talk from a script. -.- but it's getting better:)

  • you guys have this problem, everyone has a problem, if you keep trying anything can be solved. so dont give up, easier said than done but this is a test, hard one but this test i believe will make you guys the one of the most respectable people on earth. my problem is me caring too much about other people that it hurts me so much, my heart hurts and it gets harder to breath knowing all i can do is just pray. but i hope my prayer is powerful enough to help, guys nothing is impossible, so hold on

  • @EUmkl ..Thanks for the messages.Seems you care about us.Its so lovely of you.atleast from these videos the world can know how we live and how much strain we live with when we have this problem? We can only feel the pain ,no one else can i am sure..I wish the celebrities had opened some instiutuion or a clinic something like that to cure the stammerers.I think someone has to come forward from the celebrities coz few of them had including Mr Bean and BRUCE WILLIS. . WTS UR MAIL ID eumkl?

  • @mailsexpress1001 also, give me a private message if you want to discuss it further, I've tried to research this field as much as possible

  • @mailsexpress1001 avoiding words can be hazardous as well, don't stress about talking, and say what you want - while you avoid words, your speaking can get fluent otherwise but those certain words (in certain situations) can become an obstacle. a lot of speech therapists suggest you stop avoiding the problem and face it without caring - as you can see from this video, the guy went up to girls and talked, and stuttered less than he normally would.

good luck and all the best for you :)
