  • funney how the press or the goverment dosnt mention that there is only one man in tha cab of the locomotive on all amtrack and commuter trains , so do you think this could have been prevented by having two men in the cab ???????

  • i guess they should ride with us an let them handle the controls..the general public hasnt got a clue

  • The Engineer aboard the Metrolink train was named Sanchez and was a real fruit cake, during his training he would forget what he was taught he could not remember what they would teach him the day before and he was in another world texting on his cell when the incident happened, but mostly an individual who would only think of his own needs first and this was on going on for some time. Final result - Sanchez had his organs peeking out of his flesh when they scraped him off the train.

  • @Trainfan1055 yep your right... but something went wrong... with all the fail safe measures installed in rail systems these days they still have accidents. human error is the most likely but equipment failure is also possible, and even a combination of both could be considered. it happened some time ago so i guess there is a report on it somewhere.

  • @1AussieAvenger1 But, what about the alerter reset button? If he had fallen asleep, the brakes would have come on in 10 seconds. And don't the brakes come on if they over run a red light? There's no way he could have been going over the speed limit.

  • Is there some debate over the railroad tradition of having train crews on the " extra board " since they may not get sufficient rest between runs?

  • @Petemonster62 Yes, but this route wasn't equipped with such a system.

  • @JBofBrisbane god shut up

  • @bourwiskey I've made that point ever since this crash happened, it's incredible that passenger trains only have one person up front and freight trains have at least two crewmen in the cab.

  • @hearsedriver1968 technology although good... its bound to fail one day and manual shutdowns/braking are the only way. good for employment. good for safety. i can only guess that the engineer who ran the red light had fallen asleep and was carrying too much speed at the time causing the mass weight or the train to overshoot a siding even after Auto Braking came into effect. maybe the engineer was even sitting there with eyes closed and still pushing safety button. human error in any case.

  • And once again the winners are - the lawyers.
