Latin America is commonly know as the macho capital of the world, where women are treated as second class citizens.
This may or may not be true in some parts of the region.
What is true though is that women's rights are often violated for political, social or economic reasons.
Segmento 2 - Los Derechos de las Mujeres
América Latina es conocida como la capital del machismo en el mundo. En donde las mujeres son tratadas como ciudadanos de segunda clase.
Esto puede ser cierto o no en algunos lugares de la región.
Lo que si bien es cierto, es que los derechos de las mujeres son constantemente violados por razones políticas, sociales, y económicas.

STEP 1, when you talk about abortion, always make sure to recenter the debate around CHOICE. It is much more difficult for these people to defend that Women should not have choices, than to say, they want to protect unborn babies.

re donovonc: I don't think it makes much difference centering the abortion argument around 'choice'. Pro-lifers are not saying 'women should not have choices'. They know that choice is important to women, and to anyone. What they are saying is that when two rights conflict, the most important right should prevail. Women have the right to choic e and self-determination etc, but (arguably) not if their choice is to kill a human life (or the 'earliest human life form', aka "fetus").

This will probably generate more hate than any other comment I have ever posted but history shows that the Catholic church did not make a decision to become a kinder and gentler organization. They lost their power because it was taken away from them by the people. By opposing birth control they will eventually have the numbers to regain their power and check history before you decide if that is a good thing or not.
