The devestation caused by a greedy man who has no respect for life, be it in our environment or even human life as we all know he leaves miners in the mountain to die. This time human life was spared but now will the endangered Hellbender Salamander ever survive since this creek is the only know location the salamander reproduces? This was shot just down stream of the location of the spill. The bridge on Ohio State Route 148 just west of the junction of Ohio State Route 145 and 148. Coordinances are 39' 54'39.48"N 81'00'15.36"W ; elevation 865' above sea level. This is about three miles west of Alledonia, OH. If you use Google Earth one can see the slurry pond about one mile west of the filming location just near the creek and Ohio State Route 148. Hopefully the Ohio Department Of Natural Resources fines him enough to make him a little more responsible. In 2005 he only got fined $50,000 for a similar incident to the same creek. What is that? Just a little more than one mans annual income at the mine. Ouch! That had to hurt! (Sarcasm intended) Maybe one or two billion dollars and he'd get the point! Bet old Charlie Wilson will still be there to protect the greed factor. Vote him out in one month Ohio Valley!!! Of course he never dropped a fishing line in this creek as I do so what do they care. Was some nice smallmouth in this exact location. Hope they wait to come down stream.
Yes it is sad. I have fished and camped down there all of my life. One of the few great natural resources in Belmont County that haven't yet been destroyed.
