There's always a price when you are exceptional at something. Nothing is free and in physical sports if you're not willing to put your body on the line then you will NOT get far in sports or maybe in life. These are all violent movements and it's the person that is WILLING to put it on the line.. that makes sports appealing.. To kids, to fans, to columnists, to the press and even the president. It's the parents pushing this on their kids. Let the kids play parents... Let the coaches coach.

I know you're gonna come back with something smart to say.. But I am for advancing the game of baseball.. Throwing like a javelin is for javelin. Throwing spears is for people in the stone ages. It's physically impossible to throw hard with that style. If you wanna be a poor shlep playing beer league... That's how you want to throw.. But if you want to make it.. TAKE A RISK OF INJURY.. Seems to me millions of people would take a risk rather than look stupid and healthy.

@jvb3434 You are sadly mistaken if you believe that any idiot can get a Doctoral Degree in kinesiology. Do you also believe that any idiot can also win the Cy Young Award like Marshall did? Nobody ever did the High Jump the way Dick Fosbury did it but when he won the Gold Medal in the 1968 Olympics, everybody suddenly started copying his style. Don't knock something just because it is different.

any idiot can get a degree. So you're saying every big leaguer wants to get hurt cus you say they throw wrong? Noticing it's clear as frickin day that no pro throws that way but you seem to believe that's the right way. And you also listened to him cus he has a degree and none of his guys get hurt. I think kids dream of getting to bigs not about staying healthy.. If you believe surgery is the end of the road you're either a part of a cult or live in the 1940s.. Give me a break

"most damaging cult-leader "? Marshall's followers do not injure themselves, so how in the world is he damaging?
I don't think anyone disputes that throwing like this will reduce strain on a catchers arm. It will also reduce a catchers chance to be taken seriously by adding 3 seconds to his pop time. You can can also reduce the chances of pulling a hamstring by walking to the bases and never sprinting again.

@bgibson1970, I'm sure that you must be kidding about this motion adding 3 seconds to a throw to 2nd base, unless you are judging this by how long it takes a 68 year old man to demonstrate how to do it. It takes me 1.11 seconds to catch and release the ball when doing it in real time, and I'm a 59 year old man. If you want, I'll time my PONY league catchers this year and tell you what their POP time is.

@harley4myride2, I highly recommend you seeking out Domingo Ayala for instruction. He has several videos on youtube as well. His pop time is 1.6.

There are several pitchers using the Marshall method who throw 90+ MPH. So I guess that it's not impossible to throw hard using the Marshall style. So if I have a choice of using a style that has a 30% chance of ruining my arm or using a style that has a 0% chance of ruining my arm, which should I use?
