    Very right Sukhram Sahib,

The large deodar tree in Kangra had to be cut by the brits to stop the practice where a girl was sacrificed annually

Do read J.G. Frazer"The Golden Bough" about the myths and practices of this area.

Of course Hinduism doesnt support sacrifices but let's not forget sati was practiced not long ago, for example. Still about 10 years ago, a boy was sacrificed at the Chamunda Devi temple near Dharmsala...

    .

  • What's this track of music has to do with this ceremony? The spirit of shamanism is more important than getting off your head. I know the devata chelas of the 4 villages present at this mela and I do not think they'd like the sound track too much.. Their sound is better.

  • The last human was offered here in 1886 says O.C.Handa the eminent historian.

this is not hinduism but Tantric ritual. Hadimba =Bhimalaki previously a powerful witch that married Bhima one of the Pandavi brothers. Untill recently 1008 animals where slaughtered. On this day all the Gods & Goddesses of Kulu accompagnied by there Gurs come to pay respect to Hadimba a very blood thursty Goddess,

    Bham Bolenath'

    Sukhram Sahib

Dude, you saw too many bad movies!

Or maybe you read too much Christian or Islamic anti-Hindu propaganda.

There is no human sacrifice in Hinduism. Even animal sacrifices like this are very uncommon.

As for the "poor sheep" who gets sacrificed and later eaten, what are you, a vegetarian? You never eat meat?

  • I'm glade that they have sacrifice just a poor sheep rather then a poor low cast Hindu like the old days.

  • the temple built in the 16th century is center to the ceremony where 18 sacrifices are performed in the month of july

  • Unique video. I have never seen the 'Gur' in trance, dance like that. Sheep sacrifice is pretty common in Kullu though.
