Boy!, I bet it's almost impossible not to "test " a cylinder phonograph without repeating Edison's first recorded words. Wonder if the next "test " was a dirty joke.

I built my phonograph. I'd like to know what material was used for the vibrating membrane of your phonograph.

It might work better if you added a horn or something to the diaphragm to help direct the sound better.

what do you mean?

"Mary had a little lamb whose fleece was white as snow and every where that Mary went her lamb was sure to go hello hello" not "ha ha ha"

@Ukrazianation
surely you would grant the creator some artistic license, besides, it's as close as you can get to edisons inimitable phrasing, since he deliberatley used "ha ha ha" :)

I was able to manufacture one similar to that you have tried several attempts to register but the problem is being torn apart, sometimes tin, and sometimes I record but the sound does not function for Aadri Mamaenqsp until the sound Can you explain the ideal way to do this? Please reply soon and you thanks and gratitude for the great video and good achievement. Perhaps they will send you a picture of the one who worked

@pleps5 i wish i had more time and resources to do a more detailed video, i may get around to it sometime soon. as for the recording material: tin foil will simply not do, since it's way too thing and has a different surface from the actual tinfoil used back in the day. what you should try is aluminum foil duct tape! -this is by far the most succesful and practical solution since it doesn't tear and can be stuck onto the drum by itself and removed easily. currently i'm working on disc recordings
