The flame pulls on the oxygen in your ear, which in turns pulls on the wax in your ears. It's called convection. You can actually use a rolled up news paper, you don't need a wax candle.

@Silverhairspeaks Leeches can actually serve a purpose. Maggots? Not sure, I'd have to research regarding debrading woulds etc. Ear candling, no. Not useful in that it has no actual benefit and actually factually CANNOT work as proposed.
