MLK and Ghandi in my mind r heros i agree... they r amongst the bravest in history... but look at where that bravery got them... sure if i or any1 else where 2 step up they would put sum1 away thata is bringing Dallas down... but that doesnt change the fact the the rest of the world fears them and will continue 2 fear them regardless of wat sum1 else does, becuz they will c wat happens 2 u 4 snitching

@dbirdwell I'm not sayin ur wrong becuz i kind of agree with u... but wat i disagree is, it is less likely 2 hav my mother killed by the chance of that robber then 2 sign her death warrent myself by snitchin on the guy the 1st time so i would rather not become a target of sum1 who could be connected 2 ppl higher then the gangs... The Mexican Mafia runs a lot of the gangs in the US... they r behind bars and still get their targets... knowin this i would not want 2 land on their hit list-continue

YOU have to be brave, like Martin Luther King, Or Mahatma Gandhi. Teh college students in Egypt this past Spring--all of these examples went up against GOVERNMENTS and groups who would kill them or hurt their families. Yet, they did the right thing.

How do you think East Dallas got this way? It wasn'ty always like this.... When people stopped doing the right thing, it sank into the ditches. Maybe you could raise it up.

Yes, dear, I would. You have fallen victim to their use of fear to control you. Here is how I explain it to my students: A guy robs and kills a clerk in a robbery. Someone knows who it is, but says nothing. The NEXT time he robs, he kills YOUR mother. You see? YOUR mother would be alive if the other person had been brave enough to do the right thing. All it takes is one or two brave people.

not 2 snitch becuz they do not want 2 live like that and they do not want 2 put their families at risk... becuz sumthing gangs use against their targets is actually not acts of violance against them but in fact they retaliate against that persons family members... so ask urself this. would u put ur family at risk 2 put a criminal away? becuz that is the question that runs thru those ppls minds when they r faced with the option of snitchin or family. that may sound very sad but it is the truth

@dbirdwell U could be rite... but something u have 2 understand is that most of them arnt scared... and as bad as this may sound a lot of them arnt even scared of death... and those r the individuals who r sent by the shot callers 2 deal with things that need 2 be dealt with.... ppl do not snitch not only 4 the fear of thir lives but becuz if they r put into the witness protection program then they hav 2 live a life of hiding and always havin 2 watch their bakks... and so they choose (continued)

@perez469 I am not offended. You bring up a real fear, but that was my intent. If adults do not show young people that the thugs USE fear, because they are really weak, then the good guys become stronger. In any area, you have MANY more good people than thugs. So, how is that a few no-good, rotten crooks run a street? Because peopel fall for the fear. If anything, the thugs should FEAR US. I live in East Dallas. I know who these people are, and they are othing but bullies who can be stopped.

@CharmedGirls I understand that you don't snitch but by staying quite you admit that others have power over you and that they own you. @perez469 I agree with you. I grew up in east Dallas and know as well as any how the streets work but if we let these thugs control us with fear then they own us. By using our fear they are no better then the terrorist we fight. I am not afraid to speak the truth and I doubt any true dallasite is either.

@dbirdwell No disrespect intended but incase u havnt noticed, when people snitch they get delt with usually costing them their lives... gangs and individual criminals "play" by this code... they hav done this 4 decades and personally i think it will nvr stop... i miite hav had ur class had i stayed in Dallas since i didnt i cant say whether or not u kno how the streets of dallas work.... but growing up in them i can tell u that this is exactly how Dallas is ran...
