Footage from the unreleased Obliv version (tweaked a bit to reflect future Skyrim-ification).
Here you can see most of the ship (proper) in action, after Player has activated it (taking controls as the helmsperson). Shifting sails as well as the periodic (scripted) messages updating the wind's details and the ship's speed are shown. Oar/rowing animations are NOT included (obviously), and the oars would normally be retracted & stowed during the sailing sequences. [The sail meshes have been edited to exclude the 'leads' since this was made... see the forum discussions for details on this and other changes]

ALSO; this is a reinstall of Obliv (following a wipe of my entire system pre-Skyrim) and does NOT have full LOD copied over. That's why some may notice the lack of trees and 'popping' of the city's walls, etc. i figured it wasn't that important so left it out. This does not include the original 'flapping/rippling' effect I wanted. I don't think I'll be able to pull that off in Skyrim... at least not initially (unless someone comes up with a working procedure of how to get working niGeomMorpherControllers in the NIFs).

You'll also notice Player is NOT the center-pivot... and is scripted to be at the rear (though I may switch this to the front because of diminished visibility from the 'tent enclosure').

I want to have certain music playing during the rowing and sailing sequences... among these are: Helium Vola - Selig, Faun - Seiben, Hel - Vi Sålde Våra Hemman, Corvus Corax - Custodes Sunt Raptores, and others.... including at least ONE recording of an authentic Maori Haka (probably Ka Mate) as performed by New Zealanders (Kia Ora!!)

Hopefully popularity of this video and my mods will help convince the artists (and/or rights holders) of the value in this free publicity for them. Links:
