Ready Public Service Announcement

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Ad Council are proud to announce the launching of a series of public service advertisements (PSAs) to encourage disaster preparedness. These announcements will be part of FEMAs Ready campaign, designed to educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to emergencies including natural and man-made disasters.

As part of this campaign, we are releasing new television, radio, outdoor and Web PSAs, emphasizing that disasters can turn a survivors world and life upside down, and directing them to visit www.ready.gov where tools and resources are available to help them prepare. We can prevent lives from being turned upside down by preparing for all-hazards.

Everyone heard former Pres Bush say those words and I can not believe anyone has yet to hear about everything from global warming to global cooling but formost anyone that watches the news has more than enough information to then think, hummmm, it is only a matter of time before some disaster large or small falls into all of our lives.

In short, it only makes sense to be prepared vs the options of thinking your neighbor or government will or can help you post disaster.

This advertisement wasn't very effective. If the family had died in some gross, horrible way, then I might be convinced, but the ad makes 2012 look more fun than... well the end of the world. Hell if the end of the world involves a super backflip, then I'm going to start practicing gymnastics right now.

This is my favorite PSA because it may motivate some of the 93% of of citizens that are not prepared.

THEY place the 7% that are prepared in increased and very avoidable danger.

When world leaders & our top scientists say "it is not a matter of if, but only when" people should listen & prepare while they can.
