FYI, everyone. A piano IS a percussion instrument as well as a string instrument. The string is struck with a mallet attached to the key that YOU press. Corea's a already a percussionist.

@woutertron That wasn't at all the point I was making, also, it was meant to be slightly humorous. Chick isn't "a drummer" but he IS a percussionist because here we see a PIANIST (percussion) playing DRUMS (percussion). Bye.

@garrettmillerdrums A crane is a mechanical extraction device (look it up). So are the pliers a dentist uses. Therefore, a crane operator is similar to a dentist. I get what you're saying technically, I just don't think the comparison is useful in any way. Being able to play the piano no more helps you play the drums than being able to play guitar or clarinet.

@woutertron A piano is a percussion instrument (look it up). Chick plays piano therefore Chick plays a percussion instrument. What do we call someone who plays a percussion instrument? Chick Corea can not only be called a "pianist" but also a "percussionist."
