Can a groundhog hundreds of miles away from Michigan accurately predict our weather?
This was a question that puzzled Holli Meier of Tustin and her friends over coffee.
Since Meier owns Wind Crest Alpaca Ranch in Tustin, Mich., she said lets ditch the idea of a groundhog in Punxsutawney, Pa. seeing its shadow as an indicator of Michigan weather and give the alpacas a try at determining the spring forecast.
On Groundhog Day Tuesday, Meier held a weather-determining event of her own on her Tustin farm as she had her alpaca Castillo say what spring has in store.
