yeah they changed it in 1994 when 2 more teams joined mlb...the creation of the Central Division led to the LDS in the postseason bc the Wild Card team was also in

It used to be just the East and West then they created a Central Division and the Astros joined it

My aunt was at that game (as an Astros fan) and she said that although they lost, it was the most exciting game of her life.

Yeah, Scott owned the Mets and the entire NL, for that matter, in '86.  Kerfeld was a real character in the mold of the old-time ballplayers. That was a great team, but they just didn't quite have the horses to make it. Great memories.

The Astros could have gone to the 1986 World Series if they were only able to close out the Mets in their last at bats in Game 3 & Game 5 at Shea Stadium which they lost.

Kerfeld was a goofy s.o.b. but great for baseball. Plus he had a pretty good year in 1986. He's working as a scout for the Phillies (if you watched the 2008 ALCS they showed him and a bunch of other scouts watching the game at Fenway). At least he is in baseball still.
