@promagnum Also, Marshall Grant had switched to electric bass by this time, and played an Epiphone Newport (it's in the foreground on the cover of "San Quentin"). Grant played Epiphone basses (upright & electric) starting in 1956 until he cut an endorsement deal with MicroFrets in 1970.

@promagnum 1966 Epiphone Emperor E112T, a custom-built model because CP had always favored 3 pickups, going back to his Gibson ES-5 days. The Emperor Thinline was the highest-priced Epiphone made (and one of Gibson's most expensive guitars), and had a 3 to 6 month wait after order. It was similar to a Gibson Byrdland.

One of the best versions I've ever seen or heard. Love the joke between John and Carl: "didn't I Carl". Carl Perkins is not Luther Perkins, though. Only thing missing is Luther's pickin'. Carl had other qualities, in fact too many to mention here ...
