ABC Lateline - Global Warming Hit Piece Featuring Jay Lehr - 12 August 2009

I am calling this a "hit piece" for reasons which may not be obvious to some, but which stand out like a sore thumb for me.

It is important to understand that the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission) is a mouthpiece for the corporatist/statist agenda. Their only purpose in running a story on climate change sceptics is to discredit them.

Notice how Dr. Lehr is lecturing to an almost empty room? What message does that send to you?

Notice the mocking tone in the voice-over ?

Notice the way they casually note (in passing) that he has never published any peer reviewed research on climate science - then they cut to scenes of him JUMPING OUT OF A PLANE!

This is slick (and sick) propaganda, from YOUR ABC.

Fact is, 31478 American scientists have signed the following petition, including 9,029 with PhDs:

"We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind."

"There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth."

I know Jay Lehr personally. He is not a scientist. He ran an association for ground water professionals and commit fraud in 1987. He falsified invoices to US EPA, got caught, was arrested and sent to prison. Jay is unemployable due to the fact that he is a liar and has no credibility.

Jay taught a course on ground water at the Ohio State University but was fired for his incompetence.

Jay is just an ego freak who will do and say anything to get attention. Pathetic.

So not many people are listening to this old man, as we could see that he only had an audience of 5 people! And they were all his age so he probably just did the speech at his retirement home. Clearly living in the past. So he says he doesn't believe in climate change, but part of his argument is - wouldn't it be nice for it to be a couple of decrees warmer?! Go live in any of the warmer climate regions in the world and say that again.
