The more you study ACM and the more you fly sims like IL-2, the more you realize that it isn't about which machine is fastest or which plane has the most firepower. And victory sure isn't about yanking and banking blindly.  Victory in a dogfight takes situational awareness, spending your altitude and airspeed carefully, communication, teamwork and a thorough understanding of how to use all the different basic maneuvers against an enemy who is trying to do the same thing against you.

@Histbuff1 the MiG-15 is very likely to have gotten at least a 4-1 K/L ratio vs other USAF aircraft like the F-80 and F-84. but against the F-86 they would have been highly unlikely to have been very successful at all.

@hotpocketpoison Certainly it would seem that Soviet pilots, including many WW2 vets, flew most of the Migs. It seems the Migs big advantages were its ability to take damage, it's phenominal rate of climb and it's firepower. As to kill ratios.... there has always been problems around Korean War kill claims and much of it propaganda which is why I tend to reserve judgement on that issue.

@FrancoHitlini most of the pilots of the MiG-15s were soviets. they did not trust the koreans or the chinese with their brand new technology so they rarely let them fly. the F-86s K/L ratio on MiG-15s was nearly 12-1, the MiG-15 was more maneuverable but was far less controllable and had inferior fire control systems. making lining up for a shot EXTREMELY difficult.
