And while I agree that committing suicide because you euthanized your pet signifies some deeper problems (and a serious lack of therapy), it still depends on the individual situation and the significance of the pet. If it's not important to you, doesn't mean it's not important to someone else. To him, this could have been the worst thing he could do. We don't know his situation or why he euthanized him in the first place, so it's best not to assume.

Humans above animals? Look at the advantages "animals" have:

1. Animals are incapable of hate.

2. Animals are better survivors.

3. Animals don't need technology to travel long distances.

4. Some animals live over 100 years, and the giant tortoise can live up to 300 years.

5. Many, many animals are many times stronger than the strongest human on earth.

The only advantage humans have is better learning capacity, speech and the ability to sweat. That's all.
