Part two of the fantastic fight for the British Middleweight & Commonwealth title back in September 1983 between holder Roy Gumbs and challenger Mark Kaylor. Sit back and enjoy the action! More fights on DVD at www.boxingbarmy.co.uk
Gumbs was a banger but used up too much energy getting punches off and his punches tended to get in the way of each other. Kaylor has what I call that "East End look" about him, as if many were related: broad forehead over sharp, bright eyes down to an almost girlish elf-like chin. Kevin Mitchell's another example.
Mark is in great shape for his age can't weigh over 175 and works out every day. Does a great job working in the community, has a lot of patience with the kids that come into the gym. He can still hold his own I would like to see anybody talk trash to his face.
Was at this fight and it kicked off all over. Kaylor could really bang but his chin was always suspect, A rel warrior all the same and always value for money.
Thanks for posting. Was there at Alexandra Palace for this fight . Bit of a hostile atmosphere in the crowd but it kind of added to the drama. Key moment - Kaylor climbing off the canvas to nail Gumbs with the very next punch.
I was working at Bloomsbury Crest on the day of this fight and got to meet Mark Kaylor, top fella! Him and Sibbo should be household names even today, brave warriors both.

Anyone got the Kaylor vs Drayton or Katlor vs Tom Collins fights. The Collins fight @ light heavy was a particularly nasty ko loss for Kaylor.
