Greetings from Australia, l am an observer along with many Australians who observe world affairs, politics, the same as people such as yourselves. Of course there are observers of many Nations including my Nation. What side l take in this is irrelevant, yes l do have a side, but it wouldn’t make one cockatoo more. When Bill Clinton was President, he came to Australia, absolutely love that man, he will go down in History as one of the best negotiators the world has produced, the First Lady came Hilary, she fell in love with Australia’s health care system, l see a great deal of Hilary in Obama Care. Firstly Health care and Education is a Right in Australia as it should be,

not a privilege,all Australians pay a 1% Tax from their wages/salaries each week towards what we call Medicare, we see our Doctors for free and those who do not have a lot of money and are on pensions see their Doctors for free as well and they get their prescriptions for about $5.90 regardless of what they are. Those of us that are working pay a little more for our prescriptions but one you spend more than $1500, we too then only pay $5.90 per year, and then it all starts over again.

Australian Public Hospitals are free, you pay nothing, however like a lot of Nations, we have an aging population, so in 1999 our Government said we need you’re help, Medicare is suffering, what we propose is that if you can afford it, can you please buy some private health insurance, but our Government had made some very stringent rules for the people and it was win,win for us too. Everyone had a year up to the end of the financial year of June 1999 to get the Health insurance,

it didn’t matter whether you were 18 or 55, and the cost of the health insurance would be as if you were 18, which was going to be pretty cheap $31.90 per person a month depending on what health insurance you went too. You could go anywhere in Australia, no worries, l went with a Government one as of 2013, l pay $335.00 per month for my family, for the top top health insurance, my deductable is $500.00, if l go in to a private hospital and say have day surgery,

my deductable would be $250.00.Let’s say l have to go to hospital in the same year 4 more times, there is no deductable, $500.00 is the limit. If the health insurance companies want to raise their prices they have to go to the Australian Government to ask if they can and how much, they never get what they want after negotiating, but they do get to raise it a little bit, it gets raised about every 2 years my last price rise was about $18.00 per month no biggie.

Then you have the smartasses who thought, naaah l am not going to do this, so the Government would fine them $1000 at tax time, they didn’t seem to mind paying the $1000, so the Government decided to take a 4% fine on the Gross earnings for the Financial year, amazing the % of people that joined health insurance when that came in. Canada, Britain and Australia have these types of health care, suited to their Nations, my friends and family in America almost cry at what we have,

how can a family pay that l ask you? One of the main reasons that many Australians did the private health insurance thing was so there would be beds in the public hospitals for those who could not afford the private thing; we do care about each other. It’s also about time the American Government stopped making it a privilege for Health and Education for the upper middle class and the rich and make it a Right for all, regardless of who you are. Government subsidized healthcare is not a socialist idea... and btw they have been tried through history: My grandmother survived a stomach ulcer without paying a penny!
