I met him, and I got to sit in the airplane when he was running the Alisons during pre- flight, I was about 8 or 9. My dad worked at stenson airfield in San Antonio, he was a nice guy. My dad liked him

i first read about this man and his airplane when i was a boy in air classics magazine. many years later i would join the service and come across this man at the air force 40th anniversary air show at nellis afb. i got to meet the man and his crew and they even allowed me to get up on top of his acft ( i am a maintainer). i call it a chance of a lifetime. Rest in peace Lefty. thank you for the memories.

@Assassinxstudios
The P-47 Thunderbolt was the A-10 of WW2.
The P-38 would have been the F-15 of WW2
