A test of a Drift HD170 camera mounted on a Suzuki Burgman 650. Taken for a spirited ride on Mercer Island Way (near Seattle) from west to east.
For much of the ride the camera is mounted atop the left mirror housing, so the bike isn't crossing the center line as often as it seems. The mirror housing seems a bit too flexible with the camera and the heavy suction-cup mount, so there's excessive road vibration in the film.
The Drift HD170 was set on "day" mode with the exposure at 0. Perhaps setting it at 1 would have allowed more details from the trees and road. The partly cloudy day and the abundant shadows seemed to be difficult for the camera in many places.
A wired external mic was used. But the mic sensitivity was set at its highest level, and the mic was placed in a glove box. The sound didn't come out well, so it was left out. In other mic mounting places engine noise often maxed-out the microphone, distorting the sound. Future attempts will have the microphone set to its lowest setting. The external mic does seem to minimize the effect of wind noise.
