I also think Marr/Morrissey is better than Lennon/McCartney. It's probably a style preference. It's not like one is irrefutably better than the other.

Morrissey was a gay-ass poet without Marr's guitarwork and songwriting ability. He would be nowhere without Marr.

That bassline actually isn't that hard to play. Also, Marr was the one who composed it. There are many bassists who could have taken Rourke's place.

Since you missed the boat, The Smiths were never in question. They are fantastic. I hate Joy Division. That's my thing...
