Traveling in the US is different than many other places around the world when it comes to eating. It may be the food or the atmosphere, but the largest difference is the fact that you have to tip when eat out at a sit-down restaurant (not fast food). Non-Americans tend to tip less than they should and this video is here to help explain the tipping culture in America. At restaurants it is 15% minimum and 20% or more if the service is really good. If you do not tip, do notn expect to get fast friendly service at the bar either.

  • Number 1: Get a better job

Number 2: If you want a tip you have to earn it, no fucking way am i going to give someone a tip if the service is shit

  • @Gabzerelli5 1. They are paid by tips, that is how it is. It is not a culture thing, it is the way that wait staff make money in the US.

    2. The service in the US is good and most non-US tourists do not know the "rules" that Americans know. So therefore I made this video.

Obviously you are one of the tourists that has no clue so this video should help you.

  • Sir, your opinion is only based on the anger you have about foreigners and money. TO be honest, I tipped the waitress 5 bucks at Danny's. If you have problems with foreigners and their tipping ; they just want so save money for better uses, like charity and this is what we usually do, we give to the low and nothing more. I'm so sorry your angry at the amount of our tippings, I suggest you take meditation :)

  • @Micropalauluv1 I have no anger. I was never a waiter. I just heard enough complaints from servers in the US that I thought I would share this information with non-US tourists for when they come to the US. And i want them to know why we tip in the US. You get paid to do your job, and this is how they get paid to do theirs. Charity? What are you talking about? Give to charity is great but do you not pay the people that clean your home? Schools? Im just trying to educate you & now you know more :)

  • Nice ! If i go to USA on holidays (but i can´t because the economy is in the shitter), i would have to carry 1 million dollars in singles.

  • @skillbill83 you will be the most popular guy at the strip club i am sure... i think they call it "Making it rain" or something like that ;)

  • So tell me, why is it the problem of europeans if you dont get paid? Shouldnt you be fighting for that or something? People in Europe did that fight like in the 19th century. and why dont you build the tip onto the price of the food or the beer? so, it doesnt seem that you are forcing people to tip. Isnt that sort of against the very definition of tip? Isnt the US a free country? I see that a lot in the movies!

  • I tip big in restaurants, diners and bars. I've done that sort of shit and those jobs are not easy so I often feel for the employees going through it. Hell I will even tip at Burger King. Don't get me wrong I won't tip much for crappy or lazy service but customer service is one of the most demanding jobs there is and a lot of folks are too ignorant to realize that. Screw you people who don't tip.

  • Hellow. I am frome Europe.. I am sorry. . I thought I was supposed to get tipped.. so I always paid less than the amount and then left. Me stupid. I know now for the next time.

  • Cruise ships, that is where you need a LOT of tip money. We usually spend over $250 in tips for a 7 night cruise for two. Not complaining, just saying.

  • When I was much younger I was a waiter at Red Lobster and got stiffed on the tip on a $100 check. The gentlemen had taken off his watch (very nice and NEW fossil watch, stainless steel) he returned for his watch after leaving the restaurant and I told him "Sir I never saw your watch" I threw it in the trash, still don't feel a shred of guilt about it either. If he had tipped he would have gotten it back, boo hoo for him. Now I am a computer programmer and REFUSE to wait tables ever again LOL.
