There was a great influence of Christianity in English society, and Englands Protestantism was transferred into its colonies, The British Empire is well worth preserving. It is not merely a great aggregation of human beings possessing illimitable wealth, and mighty naval and military power, but it is also a great spiritual partnership. Australians historically recognised the progress of Christian civilisation and the trust which God had committed to the British. Even preaching helped to reinforce Protestant confidence that God was bringing an irresistible tide of spiritual renewal to the world through English-speaking Christianity. (Ian Breward)
