A video about Admirals Row, a group of buildings in the Brooklyn Navy Yard that are threatened with demolition. Narrated by MAS Kress/RFR Fellow for Historic Preservation Melissa Baldock.
now this is nice...my grandmother was born in 1888 on Sand St and her father Wm McGuire and moma Julia Mariani lived in Division St...Julia's father was a well known musician in opera and drum major who lived at 55 Cumberland from 1886-94... his sons half Italian/Irish lived on North Portland, Flushing ave in that time... the neightborhood was known as Irishtown with plenty of hard people, Italians lived also there like Al Capone whose family was from Naples.. Sicilian's lived in Red Hook.
It would be a cultural landmark to save these structures. Not many in US are aware of the history of Brooklyn Navy Yard. Lets save this area.. because once its torn down.. its gone for Ever..
I like what you have to say... the Navy Yard I think as my old old niegborhood.. even though iam from the Gowanus area.
