Just bought one of these! Looks like you consistently hit the same spot.

Most bolt action rifles use a rotating bolt, the M1895 has a straight bolt. In a rotating bolt, you have to actually rotate the bolt and then pull it back. In a straight bolt, you simply pull straight back. It essentially allows for a simpler action and a faster rate of fire.
However, it can be less reliable than "regular" rotating bolt action rifles, as a straight bolt can be more prone to jamming from dirt.

@F4Wildcat One thing is confusing me very much. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the Steyr M95 bolt action over other bolt actions like Mauser ?

This guy used the bolt correctly.

Yeah, the M95 is nice and smooth to shoot in the long rifle version, but the M95/30 carbine has a painfull kickback.
As for the clips, it is the Mannlicher system. Just like a garand, a full clip is inserted. And there's a hole underneath the magazine. Once you chamber the last round, the stripper clip fells out underneath. This gave a faster loading time compared to other Bolt action rifle, and the straight pull system made firing faster. Also the M95 was a very sturdy design.

@00MSG The old surplus stuff has nasty recoil. Prvi's new 8x56 isn't (quite) as bad. Such a stout round in a light rifle is like shooting a .30-06 out of an M4 carbine in terms of recoil.

@iceteaguy Oh right, thats for clearing that up.
How easy is this ammunition to come by?

@ChrisPenta
It wasn't too difficult about three years ago when this footage was taken, at around $1.25 (U.S) per round, excluding shipping.

The clip. The rifles magazine is similar to the M1 Garand in that when the last round is put into the chamber, the clip automatically pops out.
