When you first move to a foreign country and can't speak the language, answering the telephone can be, at times, a frustrating and almost comical experience.

In 2002 when I first went to South Korea I had dozens of experiences just like the one in this video. Last year, when I first came to Japan I had a few similar ones!

  • haha. I'm considering becoming a ESL teacher in Korea and I never even thought of that.. I guess it will be kinda scary the first time I receive a phone call over there. At least I'll remember to say Yoboseyo!!

  • Hopefully you'll be able to say a few more words too! :)

  • pointless but worth watching

  • I like most of Kevin's videos, but this one is not informative at all.

  • You're cute

  • Wow! I can't believe it shocks people that when you go to live in another country, you should learn their language. It would be a boring world if everyone could speak the same language.

  • did you say muschimuschi?

  • Good luck studying Japanese, Kevin!

How much Korean did you learn while living there? IMO, it's harder than Japanese.

  • こんにちはケビンさん、ケビンさんのビデオは凄いですね。

    どうしてケビンさんは日本語が分かりませんか。

    じゃ、これから一所懸命日本語を勉強して、頑張って下さい。(^_^)

  • Everyone can speak english here in the Philippines....

  • This is true. I lived in India. Even today when I want to talk to people in India on the phone, unless I know they know English, even if I know a bit of their language, I get really nervous, begin sweating, and usually have my husband or inlaws (that know the language) talk for me. But if I see these same people in person I am ok....
