Yeah, it has been a while since I uploaded one of these.

This is one of the first tunes you hear in Banjo Tooie. I didn't exactly do anything fancy with it. In all honesty, I just wanted to practice with the Low A Glitch (Which veteran MPC users will notice that I thorougly abused in this one.) I think it turned out fairly boring and bland, but it was nice to see my dynamics vary more than usual thanks to the glitch.

Also, this was my first real experience with trying to use triplets in MPC. I found that tripling the tempo works, and you can see where I did that because the tempo jumps from 440 to 1320 for a few seconds at a time. In those sections however I feel like there's a slight hiccup in the percussion rythym, does anyone else notice it? So yeah. This was really more of an experiment than anything.

For those of you who don't know what the Low A Glitch is:
Without going into detail, it basically allows you to shorten the length of the held sounds like the Car or the Heart, making them more staccato and punchy. That is a very simple explanation, but I think it gets the idea across. There's a good tutorial out there somewhere, you should search for it if you are interested.

  • Lol if you don't mind, i might finish this.

  • I have it half finished already, but I have encountered issues. I should fix the issues and reupload this. If you don't mind?

Haha. I hate to like, get my foot too far in your territory.

  • Hey it's free music, do what you want. i don't own any of it. Though i do like to think of myself as the guru of tooie music. Haha. (I finally beat the damn canary in Cuckooland by switching my controller to the Rock Band drums, so now i can listen to the jukebox Yay)

  • I would agree with your self evaluation. Your stuff is wonderful, even if it is all at like 2 billion tempo, which I usually don't like.

  • Even if it was just an experiment, your song was actually good. I don't know how you could make it less bland because you got most of the instruments (I think it's only missing bass).

  • Thanks for the input! actually I had about 20 more seconds of the song done but the instruments that I used to correspond with the building orchestra of the original just seemed too odd and clashed with the nice peaceful beginning. So I scrapped it. Bad idea perhaps.

  • Lol@Lihyahm getting thumbs downed.

  • lol I take it you mean Xbox Live Arcade? Same for me, only I don't have Rockband, what I did was slowly pace myself staying behind her just a little bit, and as soon as we got to the end I pressed the HELL out of that button. XD When you rapidly speed up she does the same and she'll obliterate you, thus I sped up at the end where she couldn't counter. =P

  • I need to finish my version of this

In this version, the drums are off and there's some missing background instruments here and there

  • It's somewhat of a pain, but I just love the control it gives me. Call me a power freak.. haha. I also use soundfonts a LOT, i should try the original stuff again.
