I'm new to cycling sprints. Should there be any resistance at all, or minimal?

@TheMarshal1992 you shouldve read. I didnt have a license last 2 years. 1400 is my max wattage, I can hold a full on sprint for 30 sec. I average 600-500 Watts in a sprint. I save the 1400 for last second. Me and Jonny had a hugeass conversation. I suggest reading

@DestroyTheseWalls It's bullshit because Greg Henderson amazed the sports scientists by putting out 900+ watts over a 30 second sprint to win a stage, if you could do 1400 watts over 30 seconds you'd be beyond what the pros are doing and you'd be capable of smashing Thor Hushovd or André Greipel. It's just not viable mate. You would also be atleast 2nd cat by now.

@TheMarshal1992 i lost 300 watts last few months, i got sick and its cold and rainy. But yeah im a junior racer. I should be moving up a CAT soon.... sucks being in CAT 5.... and how is it bullshit? im a fast climber thats all
-
@DestroyTheseWalls Thats a load of bullshit.
-
You could have hit 2101 if you'd only screamed louder like all the pros.
-
@DestroyTheseWalls fastest regional..... idk why my fone didnt type that.....
-
@Jonnycerious wasnt too clear.... I can hold 1400 for last couple of sec but I can hold a sprint for 30 sec...... 1400 I is my peak..... im 15 years old..... Im one of the fastest, climb and sprint..... But im no track guy..... My acceleration sucks..... I do best when Im up to speed already.... I cant do a start from 0..... Thats track technique which I dont have : /..... So road champ, mabey, track champ, not in a million years
O.o wow 2000 watts for .2 nanoseconds.... Try that output over a 500m sprint....

@DestroyTheseWalls So What is your weight ? And flying 200?

@DestroyTheseWalls If you can hold 1400 watts for 30 seconds at 125lbs you would be a workd champion smoking Hoy, Cavenish and all track/road events. If that's you max power then it makes more sense but 30 seconds no way. Just for comparison my 200 at 11.2 on a flat slow track is a average watts of 1,100 for the average. If you could hold 1400 at your weight it would be world record.

100% guarantee you that was not 2300 watts, especially considering that you think you weigh only 80 kilo, shane perkins, world keirin champion, puts out 2500 and he weighs like 94, no chance of you doing that. sorry mate.

You are correct. Got an Srm mounted on this ergo a little while later. I was closer to 2,000-2100 and can still consistanly hit that at 84 kilos(gained a little weight) Will see how this translates into a a 200m on a fast indoor track next week. The main differnce between myself & Perkins/ pros is the ability to hold those watts and or speed. Ive been very good at hitting very very high max watts and speed. Been working on holding this speed much more than max watts so will see how it works out.
